Double IPA (also Imperial IPA, DIPA) is a stronger, more concentrated take on IPA: more malt for a bigger body and more hops for correspondingly bigger bitterness and aroma, typically landing at 8-10%+ ABV versus a standard IPA's 6-7%. It keeps the clear-and-bitter character of a West Coast-leaning IPA but turns the intensity up on every axis -- more alcohol warmth, more resin, more lingering bitterness. It's distinct from Hazy IPA's hazy, high-ABV cousins (which this page excludes to avoid double-counting) by staying in the clear, dry, traditionally bitter lane rather than the soft, juicy one.
