Legal Remedy Brewing was founded in 2009 by five Fort Mill friends (a lawyer, a landscape architect, two bankers, and a computer enthusiast) who turned their passion for homebrewing into a craft brewing business. After winning their first formal homebrewing contest in 2012 and hiring their first full-time brewmaster in 2014, they converted a vacant Rock Hill car dealership in 2015 into an 11,000-square-foot craft brewery and brewpub. The facility houses a 17-barrel brewing system along with two smaller systems capable of producing 10,000 barrels annually. The taproom operation was recently handed over to The Journeyman restaurant (operated by Mark Murphy), which serves classic Irish and American comfort food alongside Legal Remedy beers. The brewery itself continues operations at the original location, with beer available Monday-Friday 9 AM-3 PM, while working on opening their own taproom.
