Cold IPA is one of the newer IPA variants: brewed with a lager yeast strain and fermented cold like a lager, but hopped aggressively like an IPA. The result is a beer that's very pale and very clear -- clearer than even a West Coast IPA -- with a crisp, clean, almost lager-like finish underneath tropical and citrus hop aroma, usually 6.5-8% ABV. It differs from its IPA siblings by fermentation method rather than hop bill: the clean lager yeast strips out the fruity esters an ale yeast would add, letting the hops stand alone against a drier background.
