Hoptown Brewing opened in March 2021 in Mooresville's Lake Norman area, founded by Scott and Sandy Plemmons. Scott's beer-making journey began with a homebrew kit gift from Sandy, evolving from homebrewing to commercial brewing under the original name 'Hootenanny.' The brewery focuses on incredible beer, fun social gatherings, and giving back to the community. Featuring a bright and friendly taproom with 17-18 rotating beers brewed on-site, plus cider, seltzer, wine, and prosecco, Hoptown offers an expansive outdoor 'backyard' area perfect for gathering. Head Brewer Kyle McLaughlin joined in 2022 and created the award-winning Sweet Wings Honey Wheat Ale. The brewery is deeply committed to community support through their 'Sip It Forward' program, which has donated over $50,000 to local nonprofits.
