Jolly Roger Brewery is a veteran-owned pico brewery founded in 2017 by Tony Philipp, who was raised and trained in beer-making in Germany. Marketed as 'Lake Norman's Smallest Brewery,' Jolly Roger combines German brewing tradition with innovative American technology to create award-winning craft beers. The brewery specializes in premium small-batch ales using a proprietary blend of American hops that emphasizes aromatic qualities while limiting bitterness, resulting in smooth and delicious beers. Originally starting with just one tropical-inspired Double IPA, they've expanded to multiple offerings including their signature pirate-themed beers. The relaxed taproom features both indoor seating and a dog-friendly outdoor patio, with free Marco's Pizza on Thursdays and rotating food trucks.
