Founded in December 2011 by husband-and-wife team Chris and Tara Goulet along with Conor Robinson, Birdsong Brewing Company has become Charlotte's destination for culinary-inspired, super-fresh, unfiltered American-style ales and lagers. Located in the North Davidson (NoDa) Arts District, this neighborhood brewery embodies the #CanDoWillDo philosophy. The 30-barrel brewhouse features a raised outdoor patio, indoor taproom with 20 taps, and free peanuts throughout the space. Charlotte's third-oldest brewery was the first in the Queen City to embrace solar power, installing a 75-kilowatt array in 2018. Known for their weekly 'Thursty Thursday' small-batch experimental releases.

Better In Color

Wooden Robot is a 15-barrel urban farmhouse brewery that draws inspiration from traditional Belgian farmhouse breweries and the innovative spirit of American craft brewing. Since opening, they've become one of Charlotte's most acclaimed breweries, producing a wide range of juicy IPAs, funky farmhouse ales, wood-aged sour beers, and crisp lagers. Their South End flagship location features the main brewery, taproom, and Wooden Robot Coffee Bar (open mornings with specialty coffee). The Chamber in NoDa offers a second taproom with rooftop biergarten. Both locations provide rotating beer selections that can be enjoyed in taprooms, on patios, or at the rooftop. Known for blending disparate elements of art and science, Wooden Robot creates unique beers embodying a wonderful union of tradition and innovation.

Southern Strain Brewing started in fall 2020 out of a small warehouse in Charlotte, selling beer in cans and kegs to bars and restaurants. They've since expanded to two impressive locations with full taprooms and food service. The Plaza Midwood location opened in 2022 in a beautiful, open, airy space with lifted garage doors, cool wall murals, and a relaxed atmosphere. Their Concord flagship features a large taproom with seating in the brew house area, extensive outdoor space, and HotBox Kitchen serving elevated pub fare. The brewery focuses on creating clean, intentionally-made beers across all styles, from hoppy pilsners to juicy IPAs to rich stouts. Both locations are dog-friendly and host regular events including trivia, run club, and open mic nights.

NoDa Brewing Company opened in 2011 as one of Charlotte's first craft breweries, named after the North Davidson Street bohemian and artistic neighborhood. Founded by owner Todd Ford, whose flagship IPA Hop Drop 'N Roll began as his homebrew recipe. In 2014, just three years after opening, Hop Drop 'N Roll won World Beer Cup Gold Award in the competition's largest category, propelling NoDa onto the national stage. This recognition led to rapid expansion from a 15BBL brewhouse in NoDa neighborhood to a 60BBL brewhouse in North End. NoDa also opened a taproom at Charlotte Douglas International Airport in 2018, featuring the Layover Lager created specifically for travelers. The family and dog-friendly brewery features large beer garden and patio space, with a range of beer styles ensuring everyone 21+ can find something they enjoy. NoDa Run Club meets Wednesday and Sunday, and the brewery hosts monthly charity roundups and 'You Drink, We Donate' nights supporting local charities.

Sugar Creek Brewing Company opened in 2014 in Charlotte’s South End, carving out a niche with its European-inspired approach to craft beer. Brewing on a traditional system, Sugar Creek is best known for Belgian-style ales, crisp lagers, and thoughtfully executed saisons, dubbels, and tripels, while also offering approachable IPAs and seasonal specialties. The brewery places a strong emphasis on balance, drinkability, and classic technique rather than trend-chasing. Hidey-Ho Neighbor Honey Rye Farmhouse Ale

Free Range Brewing opened in July 2015 in NoDa, founded by brothers Jeff and Jason Alexander. This neighborhood brewery specializes in taproom craft beer, farmhouse ales, wild ales, and IPAs, using locally sourced ingredients with percentages labeled on their beer menu. The brewery oozes authenticity with a laid-back, neighborhood bar feel. Located directly next to Rhino Market (customers can bring food in), Free Range offers a variety of bar snacks and features an intimate back room that doubles as a live music venue. The family-friendly brewery has outdoor space for guests and their dogs, and is known for friendly bartenders and chill vibes. They host regular community events including their famous annual New Year's Day free soup event.

Jenny Bought A Farm

Located in beautiful historic downtown Monroe, Americana Beer Company opened its doors in a 130+ year old historical building. Their guiding principle is embodied in their tagline 'Drink United'—brewing balanced and approachable beers meant to be enjoyed with friends, family, and strangers alike. This independently-owned nano brewery features a 14-tap system with comfortable outdoor sidewalk seating and a warm taproom atmosphere perfect for gatherings. The brewery celebrates local history with beers named after historical figures and events. Food trucks frequently park outside, and the brewery hosts regular events including Music Trivia every Thursday night.

Amor Artis Brewing (Latin for 'Love of Craft') is a family-owned, quality-focused, community-based brewery in historic downtown Fort Mill, South Carolina. Opened in 2018, this small craft brewery features 12 taps with brews crafted on-site using a 7-barrel system, with half poured directly from fermentation tanks. The brewery is particularly known for barrel brewing and exceptional sour beers. The taproom features beautiful design with plants everywhere, exposed brick, and large windows overlooking Main Street. They offer both a back patio and an upstairs rooftop bar. The brewery actively supports local charities and has raised over $30,000 for community causes through their Suds for Heroes program and charity events.

Outta Town

Town Brewing Company opened in 2018 in Charlotte's Wesley Heights neighborhood near Uptown, bringing craft beer and community together in a spacious brewery with both indoor and outdoor beer garden areas. The brewery features a rustic, comfortable atmosphere with games including bocce ball, cornhole, and shuffleboard. They regularly release new brews while maintaining core favorites, and their food menu includes tasty flatbreads and other pub fare. Town Brewing has quickly become known for creating well-made, balanced beers that appeal to both Pennsylvania brewery veterans and local Charlotte residents. The space includes a lounge area, multiple seating options, and hosts regular events including Friday night live music (with a winter break) and jam sessions.

Legal Remedy Brewing was founded in 2009 by five Fort Mill friends (a lawyer, a landscape architect, two bankers, and a computer enthusiast) who turned their passion for homebrewing into a craft brewing business. After winning their first formal homebrewing contest in 2012 and hiring their first full-time brewmaster in 2014, they converted a vacant Rock Hill car dealership in 2015 into an 11,000-square-foot craft brewery and brewpub. The facility houses a 17-barrel brewing system along with two smaller systems capable of producing 10,000 barrels annually. The taproom operation was recently handed over to The Journeyman restaurant (operated by Mark Murphy), which serves classic Irish and American comfort food alongside Legal Remedy beers. The brewery itself continues operations at the original location, with beer available Monday-Friday 9 AM-3 PM, while working on opening their own taproom.

Off The Tracks Brewing is a handcrafted brewery located in Rock Hill, South Carolina, offering small-batch craft beers in a family-friendly atmosphere. The brewery features a dog-friendly covered patio and greenspace for kids to play, making it perfect for families to stay awhile. They serve a full menu with starters and entrees to complement their rotating beer selection. SHORT CIRCUIT

Monday Night Brewing's Charlotte location, called Garden Co., opened June 24, 2023 as the award-winning Atlanta brewery's fifth taproom. Housed in a converted 8,000 square foot mechanic's shop in South End, Garden Co. features soaring ceilings, a secret parlor for pool, cozy lounge, intimate loft, and nearly an acre of outdoor space with fire pits and games. The taproom offers 40 taps featuring Monday Night's award-winning beers including year-round favorites like Blind Pirate and Taco Tuesday, barrel-aged sours from Monday Night Garage, and selections from the Hop Hut's experimental IPA collection. Two Italian-built wood-burning ovens produce artisan Neapolitan-style pizza, and a full-service cocktail program features Sneaky Pete Spirits (Monday Night's proprietary spirits line). The brewery produces 100+ beers annually. Monday Night originally started in 2006 as an Atlanta Bible study where founders loosened their neckties on Monday nights to brew beer, officially launching in 2011. Named #2 Best Brewery in the Country by U.S. Open Beer Championship (2020).

Splendor

Vaulted Oak Brewing opened June 9, 2021, in a beautifully refurbished BB&T Bank building in East Charlotte. Conveniently located near Oakhurst, Echo Hills, Elizabeth, and Cotswold neighborhoods, it has rapidly become a favorite neighborhood establishment. The brewery is especially popular with families and dog-friendly neighbors, featuring 10-12 house-made beers on tap alongside local seltzer, cider, prosecco, an extensive wine list, and non-alcoholic options. With no on-site restaurant, they host a great rotation of food trucks Wednesday through Sunday, with Sal's Pizza conveniently located right across the street. The spacious interior features board games, both indoor and outdoor seating, and a laid-back atmosphere perfect for the community to gather.

Burial Beer Co. opened their Charlotte location, 'The House of Relics,' in Plaza Midwood during summer 2022. The taproom takes inspiration from the vintage clothing store that once occupied the space, offering lush vintage vibes with modern beer offerings. Originally founded in Asheville in 2013, Burial is known for taking traditional beer styles and infusing modern twists. The Charlotte location features two bars with 36 Burial draft lines, a full-service kitchen with approachable eats, cocktails and VISUALS wine, plus a rooftop bar. Burial's mission is to infuse their brands with intriguing storylines that celebrate artistry, history, and a reverence for taste. They specialize in four beer realms: fresh hoppy ales, quaffable lagers, rustic farmhouse and sour beers, and big decadent stouts.
