Uwharrie Brewing is Albemarle's first brewery and Stanly County's pioneering craft beer establishment, housed in the beautifully restored Historic Station 1 Firehouse. Owner and Head Brewer Colton Baker opened the brewery in 2021 after the City of Albemarle entrusted him with the historic firehouse through an incentive agreement. Colton brings over a decade of brewing expertise, starting as a homebrewer and beertender during his college years at the University of Mississippi where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Business. His professional career includes launching a small craft brewery in Brevard and serving as Head Brewer and Production Manager for a multi-million-dollar operation in Waynesville. At Uwharrie Brewing, the focus is on blending traditional brewing methods with modern equipment and high-quality ingredients sourced from regions that inspire each beer style, paired with Albemarle's award-winning fresh water. The spacious firehouse setting features both indoor and outdoor seating, cornhole, board games, and hosts events like trivia nights and community running club.
