Petty Thieves Brewing opened in 2019 in Charlotte's North End neighborhood, founded by Ted Rosenau who previously served beers at Goodyear Arts and pop-up locations. Located at The Shop development (1110 N. Graham Street area), Petty Thieves was conceived as 'an embrace of lost places and a rejection of modern ubiquity' with grassroots innovation and stubborn resilience. The taproom is housed in a converted space described as 'born from churches and libraries, and a few secrets' featuring overstuffed couches, rugs, vintage decor, a secret Speakeasy Room accessed through a bookcase door, and a shaded patio with uninterrupted skyline views. The eclectic seasonal menu features traditional and cutting-edge ales and lagers using unique ingredients like sweet potatoes and blueberries. Petty Thieves hosts annual Krampus Krawl, New Year's Eve party with Chateau Wo Dance Co, NC Music Hall of Fame performances, and monthly gatherings. The atmosphere blends brewery, church, and library aesthetics creating Charlotte's most creative and funky taproom.
