Old Well Brewery is Mount Pleasant's first official brewery, operating as a one-barrel brewhouse located inside the acclaimed 73 & Main restaurant. Named after a mid-1800s well discovered below a concrete slab behind the building during renovation, the brewery is owned by Mount Pleasant native Robert who grew up in the area and wanted to create beer that brings people together. His brewing style incorporates influences from travels to San Francisco, London, Spain, Asheville, and beyond. What started as a part-time passion (Robert and his wife enjoyed Miller Lite on the beach before expanding into porters and stouts) has grown into something special. The brewery is part of the larger 73 & Main experience, housed in the restored 1913 Mount Pleasant Hosiery Mill building. Guests can peer down the restored stone-lined well shaft through a Plexiglas cover. The restaurant features locally sourced ingredients and boasts one of the largest bourbon selections in the state with almost 100 options, including 35+ rare and antique bourbons.
