Gilde Brewery opened in February 2022 as the first U.S. location of the historic German brewery established in 1546 in Hannover, Germany - making it over 475 years old and one of the oldest breweries in Germany. The 9,500 square foot brewery and restaurant in Charlotte's Lower South End features authentic German architectural details, design touches, and millwork, all centered around a German-made brewhouse with Caspary copper kettles and stainless steel fermenting tanks. Brewmaster Willi Wallstab leads the team in producing pure, high-quality beer according to German Purity Law standards. Executive Chef Dominik Kuehne (who worked with Michelin star chef Stefan Herrmann) creates authentic German cuisine. The brewery seats 350 guests across the bier haus, outdoor bier garten, patio, and semi-private event space.
