Fonta Flora Brewery

Fonta Flora Brewery opened their Charlotte location at Optimist Hall in January 2020, bringing the taste of Appalachia to the Queen City. Originally founded in Morganton in 2013, Fonta Flora is named after a sharecropping community near the Linville River that was flooded to create Lake James. The brewery integrates the soul of agriculture with the art of zymurgy (fermentation), using water from their wells and supporting agriculture from surrounding counties. They operate a 9-acre farm with orchards of persimmons and pawpaws, employing regenerative farming concepts. Cofounder and brewmaster Todd Boera crafts 50-70 varieties of beer annually using as much North Carolina malt and local farm ingredients as possible. The Charlotte taproom features both indoor and outdoor patio seating with draft beer, house-made cocktails, and packaged products available.
